What hypnotherapy can help with
-
Anxiety
Anxiety, stress and worry can come from many areas of our lives. Worries about money, debt, relationships, health and work, exams and tests can cause us to feel overwhelmed and unable to cope. Anxiety causes more anxiety and it might be that you are trapped in a world of worry and negativity.
Hypnotherapy is fantastic at helping to lower anxiety. In your sessions we focus on what you would like to achieve in your life, how you will be when the problem is not there. The Solution Focused part of the session works on changing your thinking and directs the mind to more positive aspects of life which anxiety causes you to miss.
The imagination is a powerful tool; if you think about it, worry is just the imagination working negatively. Using hypnosis the mind is relaxed and able to come up with positive solutions to areas that are causing problems. Often clients find that when one area of their life improves others are quick to follow!

Depression
The black dog. When you feel like you are living underwater. Perhaps you are absolutely exhausted and sleeping all the time. You are probably anxious too.
Depression comes when the build up of negative events and thoughts overwhelm the body and mind. Hypnotherapy can help you to break through the fog and see glimmers of light at the end of the tunnel. You are able to process the backlog of stress that has caused the problem and start getting back on track.
“Brilliant. I felt better much quicker than I thought possible. I couldn’t function at all when I first met Miranda, I’d given up and was facing losing my job and possibly my home. Now I know what to do when things get on top of me and the signs to look for before things get bad.” (D.C. 2016)

Drinking
Difficulties with alcohol or drugs is a sign that the mind and body are out of balance and that life is not bringing the satisfaction that we would like. If you are drinking too much you will know how it is affecting you in lots of negative ways. It is a stressful way of dealing with life.
Hypnotherapy works to lower the stress in life.
Stress can be made worse by alcohol or drugs and in turn, dependency creates a lot of stress. You can find yourself in a negative spiral and feeling out of control. We look at how you would like to manage the problem. Give up completely? Have a glass of wine with a meal but not the whole bottle?
Being clear about what you want gives the subconscious mind a chance to operate for your benefit instead of feeling like you are fighting a losing battle. When we get things right in life- our relationships, how we spend our time in the day and how we think about ourselves, addiction becomes unnecessary and resolves itself with the help of hypnotherapy.

Low Confidence
Confidence is the feeling that you can manage your life and cope with whatever life has in store. The funny thing is about confidence is that when you have it you take it a bit for granted. It just means that you can get on with things. It is when you are lacking in confidence that you really notice. A lack of confidence will cause to to worry about things, second guess yourself, get nervous or maybe opt out of doing something in case you mess it up.
Hypnotherapy can really help with these feelings of inadequacy and get you noticing what confidence feels like. It is interesting that if you are really confident about something you most likely don’t say, “I’m feeling really confident about driving my car to the shop today”. You just do it!
“Very relaxing. Like a really nice daydream or when you are about to fall into a deep sleep.”

Panic Attacks
Panic attacks can be utterly terrifying. They are your body’s response to a build up of anxiety and negative thinking. When you experience a panic attack you are going into fight-or-flight mode. Your heart beats quickly to send blood around the body so that you can run away. Your digestion stops working, you sweat to cool you down if you run. The symptoms are frightening so that you run away from perceived danger. Most often we don’t run we just think we are dying or going crazy.
Hypnotherapy can help to calm the mind and you will learn to how to regain control in situations that have frightened you It’s worth remembering that you are not having a panic attack all the time!
“Positively looking at aspects of my life became a stronger part of my daily life. Looking for the positive is now an entrenched tool of daily life. Scoring positive individual events in life rather than attempting to achieve some sort of overall utopia was a good life learning lesson, and again very positive. Understanding how the brain works and where the negative thoughts come from was interesting and constructive.”

Sleep Problems
Sometimes in our lives if we are stressed, overburdened by life our sleep can become disrupted. Between 30-50% of the UK adult population suffers from sleep disturbance at any one time. Perhaps you have had the feeling of being tired and going to bed only to find your mind racing making you unable to sleep.
Maybe you wake at 4:00 in the morning, wide awake and unable to sleep again until just before the alarm goes off.
Perhaps you just feel tired all of the time and long to stay in bed all day.
Hypnotherapy relaxes the mind and you will learn powerful techniques to let the mind know that bed time is for sleeping, not going over the worries and concerns of the day.
It is during the period of sleep that you process all of the stress and negativity that you may have had during the day. Over time, not sleeping well impacts on our ability to remain positive and enjoying life. Disrupted sleep is often the first sign that anxiety is building up.
Hypnotherapy is very effective at helping you to re-establish sleeping routines. You will learn how to relax the racing mind and look forward to going to bed.
“It felt very safe and comfortable. Overall it was very calming and uplifting”

Stress
We feel stress when the emotional and physical demands day to day life stack up and we feel under pressure. The purpose of stress is to keep us sharp, fast and out of danger. It is an essential part of our human make up. If we see something dangerous, we get a flood of adrenalin and we will run away.
However, if we are not physically running away, this fight or flight response starts becoming damaging for our bodies and minds. It becomes hard to concentrate, we may feel tearful or like we have a very short fuse. In fact, stress has many symptoms as the body and mind are not balanced. Some people over or under eat when they are stressed. Others may find themselves drinking increasing amounts of alcohol. One of the indicators of stress is an inability to relax and unwind.
Hypnotherapy can help you to learn to relax and view the events happening in your life in a more positive light so that you are able to meet the opportunities in your life with ease rather than dread.
