About Miranda - Miranda Hypnotherapy

I’ve been working in mental health for nearly 30 years, mostly in the Charity Sector. Most of that time was spent working 1:1, supporting people experiencing homelessness—clients with complex needs including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and addiction. It was rewarding work, but also deeply frustrating. I often saw people coming out of therapy sessions in tears, feeling worse than when they went in. The mental health system is overstretched, and too often it seemed like the system just wasn’t working despite the amazing people working within it.

My own experience with anxiety—specifically around taking my driving test—led me to discover Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. I could drive perfectly well, but the test itself filled me with panic. I found a local hypnotherapist, Clementine O’Shaughnessy, and she completely changed things for me. Her explanation of how anxiety is created made so much sense that it felt like lightbulbs were going off in my head. It was a turning point, and I knew I wanted to help others in the same way and wished that I had known about how the brain works when I started in mental health.

I trained at the Clifton Practice, the UK’s leading hypnotherapy training centre, under David Newton—the founder of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. What I love about this approach is that it focuses on moving forward, not digging up the past. It’s effective, uplifting, and empowering. In my experience, there’s nothing quite like it for helping people feel better quickly and sustainably—in a way that is uniquely appropriate to you.
